Students reach semi-finals in Public Debate

Sixteen students climbed on the yellow school bus Oct. 23 and headed for Willamette University in Salem to compete in the Jerry Hudson Inviational.
“The competition was really tough because many of the students who competed successfully in last year’s national competition participated,” said speech and debate member Caitlin Young.
The following students took home awards:
• AJ Markow and Chris Moon placed third in Novice Public Debate
• AJ Markow placed sixth overall in speaker points for Novice Public Debate
• Nellie Hall and Emily Hayes placed fifth in Senior Public Debate
• Chelsey Hice placed fifth in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate
• Daniel Miller placed fifth in Senior Lincoln Douglas Debate
• Maddie Eberhard placed fifth in Senior Humorous Interpretation
• Maddie Eberhard and Caleb Nyberg placed fourth in Senior Dual Interpretation
• Samantha Briggs and Shannon McGuire placed sixth in Junior Dual Interpretation
